ILLAWARRA UNITED STINGRAYS – Est. 2006

The Illawarra United Stingrays Football Club

Vision: The vision of the club is for a community which celebrates the diverse abilities of women and girls and enables them to benefit from, excel at and fulfil their potential through football – ‘the world game’. Our aim is to establish the Illawarra as a leader in Women’s football in the state while working with key stakeholders to promote the sport of football for the benefit of all women and girls.

The Illawarra Stingrays were developed through a partnership between the Illawarra Junior Soccer Association (IJSA) and the Illawarra Women’s Soccer Association (IWSA) to promote and develop elite female football in the area.

Over recent years the Illawarra has witnessed the strongest increase in participation in both women’s and girl’s Football in NSW and possibly Australia. This growth is expected to continue.

The Stingrays have a short but very successful history reaching six and taking out 3 First Grade GrandFinals in its first eight seasons along with the League Championship in 2009, 2010 and 2011. The younger grades have also been building and have received a good level of success with a number of teams over the years making grand finals and coming home victors in most of those attempts. A number of our players have also being accepted into Football NSW Elite Programs.

Football NSW WNPL Women’s Competition

The WNPL is the highest domestic competition in Australia eclipsed only by the Westfield W-League. All Clubs have the broad range of grades with teams from GSAP Under 10’s to 13’s and NPL Under 14’s to Women’s First Grade.

The Stingrays would like to thank our returning sponsors and our new sponsors:
